Meet Our President
Susan Tokayer began her New York-based nanny agency, Family Helpers, almost 25 years ago after experiencing the challenges of finding quality in-home childcare firsthand. Susan found the INA (International Nannies Association) when her business was in its infancy and after attending a couple conferences she decided she wanted to get more involved. Susan began volunteering on the conference committee, she presented at the conference, and was then encouraged to join the Board of Directors. Susan served on the board for 12 years in many different roles This includes acting as Vice President for 3 years and lead the association as President/Co-president for 6 years. Susan is most proud of the impact INA has had on the nanny industry over the years, how it has sustained itself and continued to grow, primarily through volunteers. While leading the Board and once staff, she has experienced firsthand INA in the forefront re-professionalizing the industry and educating the public. Locally, Susan is highly respected by both the families she serves and nannies she places. While friendly and understanding she is also straightforward and honest. She advocates for education and actively promotes the INA to her nannies. Family Helpers mirrors Susan’s leadership as it values reliability, integrity & partnership. As a member of the Association of Premier Nanny Agencies and the INA, Family Helpers upholds the highest of standards. Susan has used her platform nationally and locally; she interviewed with 20/20 and has been featured in articles with the New York Times and WestChester Family. While still running her successful agency, Susan is also a nationally awarded competitive swimmer. She is currently serving the INA on the Conflicts of Interest Committee.
